Raul is representative of so many people in this country who are overcome with obstacles. Raul lived in a rural community. He had tried every diet and felt exhausted—none of them worked. He didn't have health care insurance and lived in constant fear diabetes which seemed inevitable. But with some simple resources and a little support, he was able to take control and completely transform his life. 

Even his mom was inspired to try a plant-based diet. She had been struggling with Type 2 diabetes for decades, and within a few months of eating clean, she lost 30 pounds and got off all of her medications.
